DIY All-Purpose Citrus Cleaner
Easy and economical DIY All-Purpose Citrus Cleaner is a homemade cleaner that is just as effective as store-bought brands and easier on the wallet! Just 2 ingredients, it can be used in the kitchen, bathroom and for spot-cleaning tiled and hardwood floors.
I shop for bulk vinegar every month at Sam’s Club so that I always have it on hand for cleaning jobs. It costs around $4.00 for 2 gallons of vinegar, which is a much better deal than brand named cleaners!
Vinegar is so useful around the house, but many people don’t like the smell, which is why we are going to infuse it with citrus. It’s acidic, making it a great choice for tough jobs like cutting grease. Because it is not an agreeable environment for microorganisms, it’s also used for its disinfecting properties.
Adding citrus slices to infuse vinegar with their scent helps to cut down the harsh smell of straight vinegar, but also adds de-greasing power to the resulting product. For mere pennies, you end up with an effective cleaner that smells great! Besides, is cleaning power, this citrus cleaner also has GREEN power, which means you can feel good about the product you are using to clean your home!
Here’s how you make it:
Slice up some orange rinds and fit them into a mason jar.
Cover with white vinegar and seal.
Allow the vinegar to infuse for 2-3 weeks.
Strain the liquid and discard the peels. To use as a cleaner, use 1/3 cup of the vinegar infusion and mix it with 2/3 cups of water. Place the solution in a spray bottle and use as you would an all-purpose cleaner.
For tough greasy spots, I use the vinegar infusion undiluted.
That’s it! You now have a DIY All-purpose Citrus Cleaner for cheaper than most store brands, that’s effective and safer too!
