The making of a biblical woman first begins with accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. When I say ‘biblical woman’, I am referring to a woman in Christ as described in the bible: her character and her heart, the fruit produced by walking with the Lord and according to His Word. A biblical woman strives to reflect Christ in all she thinks, speaks and does and she humbly knows that this is a lifelong process. In her quest to be the woman God is calling her to be, she knows it will only happen one way:
Through a personal, intimate relationship with Christ.
Would you be surprised to learn that many women struggle to define what a biblical, or godly, woman actually looks like? It can be hard to sift through all the knowledge and opinions that are out there about what really makes a woman of God ‘biblical’. I can tell you what it is not:
- It is not a legalistic list of “dos and don’ts”.
- It won’t happen by just mere ‘feelings’.
- And it won’t happen by following what you see others doing and saying.
No, the making of a biblical woman is an authentic relationship with Him, in sincerity and truth. I write this for those who need some freedom and clarification on this subject. You have everything you need in order to become the woman that God wants you to become: Your bible and your will.
The very first step in becoming a biblical woman, of course, is to accept Him as Lord and Savior. If you have not taken this important step, I invite you to learn more HERE.
There are 4 main disciplines that seem to mark a biblical woman of God:
She Studies The Bible
The Word of God is a top priority for a woman who believes in Jesus. She knows that real change only comes by filling herself with scripture. She is well aware that knowing the words of God enable her to hear His Voice more closely. She also knows that knowing the word of God well is her primary weapon against the works of the enemy. The bible is her reference, her comfort, her navigation, her substance and her model for living.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
She Becomes a Doer of the Word
She doesn’t just fill herself with knowledge, she does what the Word of God says as she becomes knowledgeable of it. She doesn’t always get it right, but she keeps practicing and moving towards obedience to the Word of her Master because His Word is supreme and she is His Handmaiden.
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
She Worships Him
A biblical woman worships in Spirit and in Truth. Worship is not just an emotional expression for her, it is not just a series of ‘acts’ to show love, it is also a life spent honoring her King. She understands that in all of life, she has a responsibility to pursue righteousness and love. She consistently exercises her will to choose to do the things that she knows are best for her relationship with Him.
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. (John 4:23)
“…but few things are needed–or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:42)
She knows that the best way to mold her heart, get things done, address problems and to fight battles begins with prayer. Prayer is where her power source is activated, it is where her faith is applied. Prayer is where she hears His Voice and where her strength is renewed.
Rejoice always; pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1Thess. 5:16-18)
