When I gave my heart to the Lord, one of the hardest things for me to believe was that He could remove the sin that I was steeped in. Even harder for me to grasp was that I could be a NEW CREATION.
I believed He could forgive me, I believed that He would somewhat accept me, but could He really remove sin and make me new???
“Wherefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: the old things are passed away; behold, they are become new.” ( 1 Corinthians 5:17)
There it was- right in the Word of God: NEW. Old things passed away. That old person that I was, by faith, was gone and the new person in Christ was in her place.
How does this happen?
When your spirit is reborn in Jesus, it is cleansed and you are given a “fresh start” in the Lord. Before, when you were living in sin without the hope of forgiveness, you were as good as dead, with no eternal future. Now, in Christ, you are reconciled to Him and given hope for your future when you choose to walk according to His Word.
Clean
It is hard to describe this inner work with earthly words, but I can honestly testify that when I received Jesus into my heart and asked Him to be the Lord of my life, I actually felt a difference in my spirit and felt “clean” for the first time in my life. I KNEW that I was forgiven and accepted by Him.
You cannot manufacture this type of experience. It must be genuine. Salvation is a personal decision.
God’s offer of salvation is as simple as it sounds. Believe with your heart and confess with your mouth. Giving my life to Jesus was honestly the best decision I ever made. Not only did I secure my home in eternity with Him, but following Him has changed me and my life for the better in every area.
If you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and this sounds like something you might be interested in receiving, I encourage you to watch the video above for more information.
The Greek word for “new” in this scripture is:
G2537 (Strong)καινός, kainos, kahee-nos’ means new (especially in freshness; while G3501 is properly so with respect to age): – new.
You must believe that you are a New Creation
One thing that we must learn and consistently strive toward as followers of Christ is BELIEF. I have come to the conclusion that if I can just believe His Word- trust that it is true- then I have won most of the battle of living successfully for Christ.

If you don’t believe the Word, then you won’t be able to walk in it and enjoy its benefits.
I don’t have to fully understand every detail, I simply need to trust that what He says is true and unchanging. Faith like this pleases my Father.
When you were born again, a new identity took up residence in your spirit and your outward self just has to simply catch up! You do this by renewing your mind with the Word of God, allowing it to change you from the inside out.
As your heart and thinking changes, your actions will too. This process begins when you first believe what God’s Word says, then, begin putting it into practice.
I am made new and that person that I was has passed away.
The new (kainos) woman in Christ remains. I am changed from the inside out because He says it is so. And so can you!
You can move on from that old person and the life she led because you have new Life pulsing within! Glory to God! That new life gives you access to the Holy Spirit, overcoming power and healing. That new life, gives you access to wisdom and direct communication with God.
Pray with me:
Father, I praise You for the work You’ve done in me, You have made me NEW. Thank You that I am set free from who I used to be, help me to walk as the new creation that I am in Christ, living a life worthy of my calling. When the memories of the past try to threaten my true identity in You, may I be quick to recognize the enemy’s tactics and may I rise up in Christ, assured of who I really am- a new creation and completely Yours. I ask this in the Name of Jesus, Amen.
